Let’s get in the stacks! In the #BlackStacks to be more specific.
Where are my hardcover book purists? I admit, I used to be right there with you, but the ease of e-books and audiobooks pulls me out of the stacks from time to time. I always make my way back though because nothing tops the smell of an actual book.
I’ve been doing a ton of e-reading and listening to books I acquire via Audible, Kindle, and the library. While the library is an amazing resource for borrowing electronic and audiobooks, I’ve decided to be more intentional about buying more books by black authors. Enter the #BlackStacks! Sure, I currently purchase ebooks or audiobooks by Black authors, but like I said earlier, there’s something about those pages that pull me back in.
I hope this series inspires you to go grab a few #BlackStacks! If you do, share them with me using the #BlackStacks hashtag, and tag me @dashandstir!
So, what’s in #BlackStacks v.1? I hope we can add a few of these to the reading list for my book club, Virtual Insanity.
- Vibrate Higher by Lalah Delia
- Clap When you Land by Acevedo
- All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson
- Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid
- Deacon King Kong by James McBride
